Honkai: Star Rail 4.5 Is Live — What Players Get in the Astropolis Update

01 Event

Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.5, titled “To Roll the Stars in Astropolis,” launches on August 26, 2026. The update moves the Trailblazer toward Astropolis as the story continues following the crisis affecting Planarcadia.

Developer miHoYo’s update overview describes Astropolis as an important Interastral Peace Corporation stronghold and frames the new chapter around seeking help for Planarcadia while confronting the threat connected to the Voracity. The update also adds a summer-vacation storyline involving Robin and Aventurine.

02 What Changed?

Version 4.5 expands both the main narrative and the game’s playable content. Players are getting new story material, character availability and limited-time activities rather than a simple maintenance patch.

The update continues the post-Asat Pramad storyline and shifts attention toward Astropolis. It also gives HoYoverse another major content beat for maintaining player activity between larger story milestones.

03 Why It Matters

Live-service games compete for something more valuable than the initial download: recurring player attention. Large version updates give existing players a reason to return, provide lapsed players with a natural re-entry point and create a burst of discussion across YouTube, Reddit, livestreams and character-building communities.

For players, however, every update also creates spending pressure. New characters and banners can make saved premium currency suddenly feel scarce. That is why understanding the update before spending matters more than simply knowing that new content has arrived.

04 What It Means for You

If you already play Honkai: Star Rail, the practical first step is to review the new story requirements, events and character banners before committing resources. Free currency, event rewards and compensation can help, but they do not remove the basic trade-off between pulling now and saving for later characters.

Players returning after a break should also avoid assuming they need every new unit to enjoy the update. Live-service games are deliberately designed to create urgency around limited availability. A better approach is to decide whether a character meaningfully improves a team you actually use.

05 Numbers + Context

Version 4.5 launches August 26. Community and preview materials indicate the update will run for roughly five weeks, with multiple event phases and character releases during that period. HoYoverse’s preview information centers the story on Astropolis and Planarcadia while adding new gameplay and event content.

As with any gacha title, exact reward totals depend on participation, account progress and which events a player completes. Players should rely on the in-game notices for eligibility and expiration times rather than screenshots of codes or reward claims circulating on social media.

06 Earnyx Takeaway

The best way to evaluate a major gacha update is not “How much new stuff is there?” but “Which parts actually improve my experience?” New characters, events and rewards are designed to arrive together because excitement in one area can increase spending in another.

Enjoy the new content, collect the rewards you qualify for, and treat premium currency like a budget. The most expensive pull is often the one made because a countdown created urgency rather than because the character was genuinely useful to you.
