Grab Expands GrabCoins and Adds Monthly Double Coins Days in the Philippines
Grab Philippines is expanding its GrabCoins rewards system across more everyday transactions and introducing recurring Double Coins Days. The changes are designed to make the loyalty currency more visible across rides, deliveries, groceries and payments, but consumers still need to judge rewards based on what they actually save rather than how many points they collect.
01 Event
Grab announced that users can earn GrabCoins through eligible GrabCar bookings, GrabFood and GrabMart orders, GrabPay transactions and selected in-app activities. Coins can then be redeemed for eligible vouchers, services and purchases within the Grab ecosystem.
The company is also introducing Double Coins Days from the 23rd through the 25th of each month. During those periods, participating transactions can earn twice the normal number of GrabCoins. Specific offers can vary and are displayed inside the Grab app.
02 What Changed?
GrabCoins are becoming more integrated across the company’s services rather than functioning as a narrow ride or food reward. Eligible activities include Advanced Booking, Group Ride, GrabFood group orders and purchases from participating GrabMart grocery and pharmacy categories.
GrabUnlimited members receive enhanced earning rates on eligible cashless transactions. Grab says members can earn six GrabCoins for every ₱100 spent through GrabPay and three GrabCoins for every ₱100 spent using other eligible cashless payment methods.
03 Why It Matters
Loyalty programs influence spending by making future savings feel like part of the current purchase. That can be useful when rewards reduce the cost of services a customer already planned to use. It becomes less valuable when consumers spend more, choose a more expensive merchant or make unnecessary transactions simply to earn points.
The broader Grab ecosystem makes this especially relevant because the same reward currency can follow users across transportation, food, groceries and payments. The more categories a loyalty program covers, the easier it becomes to accumulate rewards—but also the easier it becomes to let rewards influence unrelated purchase decisions.
04 What It Means for You
Consumers should compare the final peso cost of a transaction after delivery charges, platform fees, menu markups, vouchers and rewards. A double-points promotion does not automatically make an order cheaper than buying directly or using another service.
If you already use Grab regularly, concentrating eligible purchases during a bonus period may improve the value of transactions you would make anyway. Avoid creating extra spending simply to chase the reward.
05 Numbers + Context
Double Coins Days run monthly from the 23rd to the 25th. GrabUnlimited members can earn six GrabCoins per ₱100 on eligible GrabPay spending and three per ₱100 with other eligible cashless methods. Grab also says earned GrabCoins remain valid for six months from the date they are earned. Coins can be applied to eligible GrabCar, GrabFood and GrabMart transactions and can also be used in certain in-store QR Ph purchases through GrabPay.
06 Earnyx Takeaway
Grab’s expanded rewards can produce real savings for frequent users, particularly when bonus earning overlaps with purchases they already intended to make. The reality check is simple: rewards are valuable only after the underlying price is competitive. Compare the total bill first, then treat the coins as a discount—not as a reason to spend.
